The story
Oriel Wave looks towards a region whose musical and cultural identity has always crossed modern boundaries. Place here is not a background: it is a field of language, repertoire, memory and human connection.
The work listens to inherited tradition while making room for a contemporary compositional voice, allowing older and newly imagined material to share one musical landscape.
The music
Traditional sources and original composition are joined through orchestral texture, rhythmic energy and melodic continuity. The large ensemble becomes a meeting place for individual traditional voices rather than an overlay placed upon them.
